Permaculture

The UMass Permaculture Initiative is changing the way students interact with their food and surroundings with the creation of on-campus permaculture gardens. As part of the Healthy and Sustainable Food System Initiative, UMass Permaculture serves as a hands-on, experiential teaching tool for students to learn about local, healthy food systems.

Prioritizing Waste Reduction

Waste Reduction

Waste reduction is an important piece of our sustainability plan. Did you know that UMass Dining composts or donates 100% of our food waste? We believe there is no excuse for sending food to the landfill. We put our food back to work by converting it into a fertile soil amendment for farms and gardens in the Pioneer Valley.
